Hawzah News Agency- “There’s no reason why to kill innocent civilians in any place in the world,” Bardem said. “But what Israel has been doing for many years now, it's a full genocide, and it's been documented as such''.
During the interview, Bardem took a swing at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and criticized Argentine President Javier Milei over his support for Israeli schemes.
“And having a president like Milei supporting that and being proud of that and also figures like Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir being very proud about pointing out to Argentina as a representation of themselves, which is not fair, I would say,” he said. “It's not fair for Argentina.”
Bardem said Milei’s stance had unfairly linked Argentina to the Israeli government’s actions, adding that many Argentines did not share his views.
“And I don't think it's fair because there are many people from Argentina that really don't support Milei, as many people in the States that don't support Trump,” he stressed.
Addressing changing public attitudes toward "Israel" and Palestine, Bardem said he welcomed the growing global reaction to Israeli actions.
“I am surprised, and I'm glad that that shifting is happening in the people's reaction towards, in this case, a genocide and war crimes,” he said.
He attributed the shift to the scale of the suffering of Palestinians, saying, “The actions that we've been witnessing through all these years towards the Palestinian population are so atrocious. They are so horrible to understand or make sense of that anybody with minimal common sense understands that that is wrong.”
Bardem emphasized that the policies of "Israel’s" current government and far-right leaders should not be viewed as representing Jewish communities worldwide.
“Israeli government and right-wing Zionism extreme leaders like Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir and all his cabinet are also not a representation of the Jewish community at all,” he said. “And that's important to also stress out.”
He said criticism of Israeli policies was legitimate and necessary for accountability, while warning against antisemitic or Islamophobic responses.
“It's absolutely legit to criticize a government that is committing such a crime like Israel in Palestine or in the West Bank, which is absolutely crazy to see the impunity that they are dealing with, that they are having,” Bardem said.
